Beccles Rowing Club, accredited by the SAFEchild children's charity, is delighted to welcome junior members to the club. Our aim is to deliver a safe and fun place to come and meet new friends whilst teaching you a new skill and get you fit!!
It is important to us that everyone feels safe and secure at Beccles Rowing Club, but our appointed Child Welfare Officer will act as a point of contact for any issues that our junior rowers (or their parents) can raise concerns.
Sessions were originally set for 10am on Sunday mornings but have, through necessity, spilled over into Saturday mornings too - simply due to the overwhelming response to recent try-out days.
We are currently able to offer the following for our junior members:
- Training scull to develop balance and confidence on the water
- Junior double scull and single scull
- Opportunity to try racing as we regularly attend races as a club
- Lightweight oars specifically designed for junior rowers
- A coaching and safety launch
- British Rowing qualified coaches
We're have better land based facilities in the form of rowing machines to allow members to develop technique without fear of getting wet! These will also help us to keep you fit even on those few occasions when the weather let's us down.
We've also obtained a four man sculling boat (a quad in rowing parlance) to get more youngsters on the water together.
If you're interested in having a go we will try to get you along as soon as possible. Just have a look at the contact us page and we'll get straight back to you. Otherwise, keep checking local press for our next junior try-out sessions.
