Beccles is a small, historic market town nestled on the banks of the
Waveney on the Norfolk/Suffolk border in East Anglia and is home to
Beccles Rowing Club.
Since 1989, the sight of rowing boats on the River Waveney has been
commonplace. That’s when the club was founded and for many years was
run on a shoestring budget and from a boathouse constructed of wooden fence panels and corrugated tin roof!
Now
we’re delighted to be operating from our brand new purpose built
shed which was only completed in July 2007. It is just a few
hundred metres from the town centre, providing us with space to
house our fleet of sculling and sweep oar rowing boats. Visit the
“Boat House Construction” pages to see the new shed through its
development.
Beccles Rowing Club
is committed to developing the facilities for rowing for all those
who wish to try it – young or old, male or female (we have a
thriving junior section right now). To this end, we have, through
successful applications for grants from various institutions and
organisations, we have a new coaching launch, training boat and
various new rowing boats. Couple that with 4 qualified Amateur
Rowing Association coaches and these are good times for Beccles
Rowing Club!! |
